![]() This was done on the first day of our lesson with Tommy Van Auken. The lines are very loose, but I think I needed more lines in the piece. I think adding a good searching line would have really helped. | ![]() This was on the second day. There are more lines present, however, the lines need more distinction between size or maybe weight. I feel like a lot of the lines muddy together toward the middle and make the figure lose its shape. |
![]() This was on the third day. I tried to use conte crayon instead of charcoal and it was really fun to work with. I used conte on my Art 3 artist copy project so it was a fun circling back to it after two years. I liked this piece more becausethe lines seem more deined and I can get a better picture of the whole figure. I think the face could use a lot more work, but I like the body. | ![]() This was our 45 minute sketch on the last day. I enjoyed making this piece because we got a lot more time to work on it and I can definitely see different values. As I had more time to work on it, I could work on finer details like the folds of the clothes and the creases on the face. |
Overall, figure drawing was a really fun lesson and it taught me more about movement and value. Working with real models helped me see movement more clearly, especially when the lamp was used to dramatize the light. Finding a line that passes through the body was a good guide point and using horizontal lines helped emphasize the twists and turns.
