Our field trip to the Scholastic Art Exhibition was very interesting and I had a lot of fun looking at the many gold and silver key awards. While looking through the exhibit, I noticed that the theme of identity and how one views themselves was repeated a lot. There were many depictions of people having a contorted view of themselves or one that travels back to the past. I found the different views on one's identity very interesting. Another aspect of art I enjoyed seeing was the landscape pieces that depicted some sort of nature and architecture. Some of my favorite pieces based on this were The Blue Jewel of Constantinople by Gabriella Kithcart, Enchanted Garden by Laurel Schlaudt, and Duality by Will Vinson. These pieces incorporated the scenes in a different perspective which I found unique. I want to use both of these concepts of contorting identity and unique perspectives of landscape in the future to create my own art pieces that incorporate these details.
